Dr. Allen’s Bio
Timothy S Allen, M.D. obtained his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 1998. He did an Internal Medicine internship at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, prior to returning to UK to complete a psychiatry residency. He served as Chief Resident and completed his residency in 2002. He completed a Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship at Tulane University in 2003.
After completion of his fellowship, Dr. Allen joined the faculty of the University Of Kentucky Department Of Psychiatry as an Assistant Professor. At that time he also began providing Competency to Stand Trial and Criminal Responsibility evaluations to KCPC, a state forensic hospital. While at UK his duties included: serving as the Psychiatry Clerkship Director supervising psychiatric education for all medical students at UK, participating the Curriculum Committee whose duties were to oversee the education program at the medical school, and supervising Psychiatry Residents in inpatient and outpatient patient care.
In 2009, Dr. Allen was promoted to Associate Clinical Professor, a position he holds today as a part-time faculty member. In 2010, he joined the medical staff at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, KY. Dr. Allen treated patients admitted to the acute care Behavioral Health Unit at St. Claire, continued his state contract with KCPC, and performed independent medical exams and legal consultation under the St. Claire umbrella.
In January 2014, Dr. Allen opened his private practice, Lexington Forensic Psychiatry. He became one of very few physicians Board Certified in Brain Injury Medicine in 2020. He open Lexington TMS to provide cutting edge neuro-modulation treatment for patients in Central Kentucky in 2021.
In addition to Dr. Allen, our practice members include a licensed clinical psychologist, two licensed psychological associates, a medical records coordinator, a TMS technician and an office manager.
